Atta Boy
This munchkin slept 11 hours last night (from 6:45 to 5:45) and then went right back down again. Dare I say it's happened? Well, our philosophy is once he's done it once, he can do it. So there's no reason to get up with him in the night anymore. (Unless he's absolutely screaming or some other emergency) There's no turning back now! Now to get that bedtime even earlier so the 5:45 waking won't happen. Sounds counter-intuitive, but it works. (Read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child - I don't follow too much of the book, other than the timing of sleep and the schedule of naps) I am one happy mama!

Sick babies
That one above is a snotty, whiny mess and the one below is needing extra cuddles dealing with his first little cold. Poor babies.

These Boys
To my Henry, who made me a mother...
I love you to the moon and back a million times a million. I love that you were my first, I love that we learn together, and I love that you are so patient and loving as I make mistakes and try my best as your mom. I love your adorable personality, your imagination, your love and passion for life. You are my little love and will always be "my boy". I love you, bud.
To my Martin, my squishy baby...
You made me a mother for the second time - a most beautiful, grand entrance into this life. You are my sunshine and I cannot wait to get to know you. What I know about you now is that your neck is the perfect place for my nose to land and your sweet cuddly body prefers mine over anyone else's. Your eyes know me and your new smiles are enough to make me cry. I love you, Martinfrog.
Being a mother is the best part of my life and I know I was meant to be theirs.

My First Memories in the "Old House"
I've been trying to think back to my first memory. I have a bunch of memories in our "old house" - the one we lived in before we moved to the house on the corner of Ebenezer Road and Robinson Road. This "old house" was in a neighborhood that was the distance of a block away from my elementary school. There are no blocks in Peachtree City, but it was close, that's all.
One night my parents were out on a date, or something, and my siblings were in charge of watching me. I was younger than 5, but even then my oldest brother, Nate, was 15 or 16. We had leftover spaghetti for dinner. I remember eating it out of one of those old fashioned glass pyrex dishes - it was tiny and had handles. My sister was probably in charge of getting me ready for bed. I was laying in bed with the hall light on, probably to comfort me. Next thing I know I'm throwing up spaghetti all over myself. What a fun babysitting job for my siblings.
Another day I was sitting on top of my parent's bathroom counter while my mom was fixing my hair. I had recently gotten my ears pierced and we were admiring them in the mirror. All of a sudden, my mom PULLED A HAIR THROUGH MY EARRING HOLE. There was a hair stuck IN the hole! It was possibly the coolest thing I had seen in my life. We were both amazed! Ever since then I have wanted a hair to get stuck in my earring holes again.
One day during nap time, my mom was vacuuming downstairs. I came down the stairs wearing my hot pink Lady And The Tramp nightgown. I stood at the top-most stair before the stairs disappeared into the 2nd floor and made my mom watch me as I showed her that I could curl my tongue. I had been practicing.
Another time I was sitting on the floor of the living room with two of my brothers. We were right in front of the tv - a clunker of a tv in a big wood entertainment center. They were playing nintendo and I was holding my blankie. I walked out to the hallway to use the downstairs bathroom. I flushed and then the toilet overflowed! That toilet overflowed all the time. Later my dad and some other people pulled out the toilet to try and fix the problem, and I think I remember they said there was a piece of carpet stuck in the hole.
One time my Nana bought me a snickers bar. I think that was the first time I ever had one. I sat at the kitchen table eating it. Our kitchen table had chrome chairs.
I sat backwards facing the wall on top of the toilet seat in my parent's bathroom. That's how I sat as my mom fixed my hair. I can't remember if I was telling her or just remembering about a dream I had. This is the first dream that I ever remember. It was like an old cowboy and Indian film. Black and white, just cowboys and Indians fighting. That's it.
There was a wood pile in the backyard. I used to go out there and sit and eat my snack. Apples and cheese.
My grandparents came to visit us. I was so excited to see my grandpa. My brother David and I went out behind our backyard where there was a giant honeysuckle bush. We took a bowl with us and picked lots of honeysuckle for him.
One year for Christmas, a friend of my parents dressed as Santa Claus came to visit our house! I'm sure I was wide-eyed and amazed. Especially since I can still remember it.
Speaking of Christmas, I loved those multi-colored, big-bulbed strings of lights my dad put on the bushes out front. They were my favorite. They don't make them like they used to.
It doesn't snow in Georgia. One night we were watching a movie as a family. I left the room to go to the kitchen to get a drink. On my way back I noticed that it was snowing outside! Turned out to be a blizzard. It was awesome.
I had a red sweatshirt with a green crocodile on it. I used to look at my reflection in the refrigerator door handles. I loved the way that sweatshirt looked in the reflection.
One day I had canned peaches. I threw them up in the kitchen sink.
We had a giant gray teddy bear named Humphrey. One of my brothers accidentally burned some of his fur off by sticking him on a bare light bulb.
We had a hamster named Skippy.
We used to eat fancy dinners in the dining room. I think we used to eat in there when we had the missionaries over, too.
One year we got a golf cart. I remember the smell and the cold floor of the garage as we all ran out to see it.
We also got a new van. A white Dodge Plymouth Voyager. I distinctly remember it pulling into the driveway. I guess I was sitting looking out the front window. We all went outside to listen to its awesome stereo. My mom kept cassette tapes in a little compartment in the console. Gloria Estefan was among the most played. The rhythm is gonna get you. I will always remember the way my mom rested her arm on the armrest in that van. I thought it looked so beautiful how her hand was resting limp off of her arm. I always copied it.
Two of my brothers shared a big room. One of my brothers choked on a lego in that room. Did we have a fold-out couch in the hallway where the computer was? Was there insulation on the walls with brown paper covering it? Nate was in there and I showed him a brown teddy bear once. He was a good big brother and pretended to care.
I have another dream I remember. I dreamed that we all had certain bedtimes and those bedtimes were written at the foot of our beds. 7:30 was on David's bed. That's all I remember.
I played with neighbor kids sometimes. I can't remember who they are now. But they had a fun playroom. We also had some church friends who lived across the street. They got ducks once. They also ate tiny pickles for lunch and watched that flying purple people eater show.
We babysat the little girl that lived in the house next to us. I remember going to see her for the first time as a newborn. She had dark hair. They had two cats. Their home smelled like cats. My parents still keep in contact a little bit. About 8 years ago the mom gave me her sewing machine and sewing table.
As I took afternoon naps I would watch the light on the walls. It would grow brighter and darker as the sun passed behind the clouds.
These are all memories from age 5 and younger.

A Visit from Grammy and Bobo
Here's what we did, picture style...
This place, Cipolli Cannoli, is a little pink cannoli shack in our town. We hadn't even heard about it until recently. One day a couple weeks ago we decided to find it and about died. Well, first of cuteness and of the taste. I am not one to rave about a cannoli, but I can say that this is the BEST cannoli I've ever had. My parents loved them, too. (And my mother-in-law ordered 28 of them for us to have yesterday evening while they were here... that's how good they are. And yes, 28 cannolis for 6 people... :))
Another cute bum in a tub...
Bobo feeding his little "MarLee"...
Henry's creation...
We went to the Please Touch Museum in Philly on Friday. It was a beautiful day out, so the museum was pretty empty! Perfect. We all loved it.
I think Henry freaked out a little bit about how high he was on Bobo's shoulders...
Little munchkin has started to smile a bit...
Grammy blowing bubbles with Henry...
The Pop Shop, of course!
Saturday was the first day that the farmer's market was open this year. Perfect timing! It was packed and super fun. We walked around, got some kettle corn, my parents got some jam and salsa and we saw a few friends there. It was a beautiful walk around town from our house.
My mom and I went into Philly afterwards to a fabric store and to lunch at Tony Luke's while Kevin, my dad, and Henry went to a deli nearby for cheesesteaks. I'm pretty sure this was the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. And those are salted caramel sweet potato fries, yes they are.
Yesterday was Martin's blessing day! Kevin's parents came down for the day and our friend Andy came to the blessing at church, too. It was a gorgeous day and we loved spending time just hanging out at home. I made a giant salad for lunch along with pimento cheese sandwiches and we had the million cannolis for dessert. (They come in kits and you can make them at home.) The pictures we took of our family after the blessing all turned out terribly, but here's one anyway.
Henry was SO well behaved that day. He was an angel in sacrament meeting, which rarely happens. He absolutely loved having both sets of grandparents with him. What is it about grandparents? I swear they are magic. Grandkids just love their grandparents.
Just so you know, it's REALLY cute having your 2 and a half year old say "cannoli".
Bedtime stories with Bobo...
This morning we went to a bakery nearby and got a few pictures. I'll put them up when I get them from my mama.
Thank you so much for coming, mom and dad!! We loved having you! I can't wait to see you again in a month!

Our Henry
Henry has been beyond precious lately. I'm not sure what happened, but ever since Martin was born, he's become such a cuddly, sweet, super adorable kid. He's never been one to hug or snuggle with us, but he has lately and it is awesome. It's crazy how big and grown up he seems. His talking has taken off and his imagination is so cute. We just love this kid.
The other day we tried to have Martin and Henry in the same room for a nap/bedtime. It totally backfired on us - Martin is not even close to being ready for that. But the next day when we told Henry that Martin wouldn't be sleeping in that room, he cried. He wants to be with his little brother all the time and just loves him! That makes us melt. We just love this kid.
Henry loves all things that go. Trucks, cars, motorcycles, airplanes, trains, bicycles, scooters... He's always playing with his cars and planes and trains. He loves to pretend to fly. Check out that picture below - that's him flying. :) He does his arms like that all the time, running across the room or when we lift him into the air. I am always tearing up over him because I am just so overcome with love! We just LOVE this kid!
